Warberries Nursing Home in Torquay fit thermal body temperature screening cameras

Built in around 1860, Warberries is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and historic buildings in Torquay.  Set amid private gardens close to the vibrant town center, the home is a stunning grade II listed building where a dedicated team of 60 provide outstanding and award-winning care to some 37 residents.

Summary

Following the outbreak of Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown during the first half of 2020, like so many nursing and care homes throughout the UK, Warberries was faced with the challenge
of how to keep its residents, its team, and essential visitors protected, as far as was reasonably possible, from the threat of infection.

The Challenge

As lockdown lifted, the challenge amplified as visits from friends and relatives resumed. The Home wanted to find a way of reducing the likelihood of infection being inadvertently brought
onsite without putting the team at unnecessary risk by close-contact fever scanning.

Following careful research, the management team decided to implement static thermal temperature screening cameras

The Solution

The main entrance to the building is located beneath a wide porch leading to a security locked door. In turn, this door leads to a spacious reception area.

Following a thorough site survey, the Fire Secure team installed a camera and black box calibration device adjacent to the reception desk and then marked the floor to indicate where visitors should pause whilst their skin temperature is measured. Visitors are informed about the use of the technology with visuals and notices upon arrival.

Clear Benefits

  • Every visitor is checked – without exception
  • The camera is calibrated to 0.03+- degrees
  • Groups can be scanned simultaneously
  • No need for close-contact scanning
  • No need for sterilisation after each scanning event

This equipment means that there is no ambiguity about who should be scanned, and no exceptions are made. My team are protected from the possibility of cross-contamination in the event that someone arrives with Coronavirus or another illness.  The equipment is unobtrusive and efficient. Which is a must in a busy care environment.
